Master Ellen began his Martial Arts journey in August of 1984 at age 11 after watching “The Karate Kid” while on a family vacation. From childhood to adulthood, Master Ellen’s dedication to the Martial Arts has been unwavering. He shares this passion with his daughter Skylar, passing down the lessons learned from a lifetime of training and experience. Master Ellen brings a unique perspective as both a child and adult student to his role as the Chief of Instruction at the West Prosper Academy and Vice President of the Professional Black Belt Association. In his role with the Academy, Master Ellen is actively engages with our schools and community events though character talks, teaching PE classes, and PTO events like Break-a-thons and self-defense classes. Competition has been a part of his Martial Arts journey as long as he can remember. Since his first tournament in 1984 as a yellow belt, he has loved competing. Later as a Black Belt, Master Ellen has been nationally ranked in both patterns and point fighting and continues to personally compete today. He also loves to inspire his students to strive for greatness through competition. After training in the ATA from 1984-1993, he began training with Master Dale Lee Craig of Martial Arts Research Systems where he not only continued his Taekwondo training, but added Weeping Willow Jiujitsu (a Japanese-style of jiujitsu) and Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT).
